Fresh Apple Cake

Ingredients

  • 4 cups apples peeled and sliced
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup pecans chopped

  • Apple Dessert Sauce
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or evaporated milk

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350ยบ. Stir together apples and sugar. Add dry ingredients. Stir well. In a separate bowl, beat eggs, oil and vanilla. Stir eggs into flour mixture, blending until moistened. Stir in pecans. Pour into greased 13x9 pan. Bake 50 minutes or until cake springs back when pressed. Serve with Apple Dessert Sauce. For the sauce: mix all ingredients in saucepan. Boil over medium heat and cook 3 minutes. Serve warm.
