Grandma’s Rye Bread

Diane—it seems like yesterday that I was watching Grandma as she kneaded the dough. She tried to teach me how to say “Flat Bread” in Swedish. It seems I never did get it right!!!!

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups liquid
  • 4 teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons sugar some brown
  • 3 tablespoons molasses
  • 3 tablespoons shortening
  • 2 cups rye flour
  • 7 cups white flour
  • 2 packages yeast

Instructions
 

  1. Bake 350º 45 minutes.
