Scalloped Potatoes

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 8 tablespoons flour
  • 5 or 6 cups milk
  • 6 pounds potatoes peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 pint half and half
  • salt and pepper

Instructions
 

  1. Cook butter, flour, and milk over low heat until mixture begins to thicken, stirring constantly or often to keep from scorching. Do not boil. Mix potatoes with white sauce, add more milk if needed. Bake at 325º for 15 minutes, 300º for 15 minutes, 275º 1½ hours or until done (2 hours total). Put in nice container for main table.
